The Legacy I Want to Leave

About a week ago, a close friend of mine posted her mission statement on her blog. She did this for one basic reason: she is a dreamer, and she needed to define where she was going. Her mission statement was inspired by the quote that simply states that if you don't know where you are going, you might end up somewhere else. I consider myself a dreamer with many goals and aspirations, and after reading her blog, I began to think about where it was that I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. I quickly realized that I had no plan for getting there or at least I hadn't defined it. With that realization, I decided to define where it is that I am going in my life, and how I am going to get there. My mission statement defines the legacy I want to leave: the things I want to do, be known for, be defined by, and where I want to be down the road. This took me about 3 days to write, and in that 3 days I discovered that there are things that I want for myself that I did not consciously know about beforehand. I encourage everybody to write out their own mission statement or at least some goals! Your mission statement may look a lot like mine, and that is okay! Mine certainly has some similarities to the one that my friend wrote. That's because as you read about the things other people want for their lives', and what it truly means to live those things out, you may discover that you want the same thing! I find it appropriate to start my blog off by defining who I am. So, after a lot of thinking, I can finally say: This is where I'm going, this is my mission...

The Legacy I will Leave will be that of a man who is known for defying the status-quo. I will do great things because I am called to be above average. My life belongs to God, and I am his instrument of influence on the people placed in my life and the world around me. He is the reason that I succeed at the things that I put my hands too, and he alone is my source.
I will have a beautiful romance with a girl who will be my best friend. We will simply be two dreamers chasing our dreams together, and I will always be there for her.
I will be wealthy because of my God-given wisdom, unrelenting drive, and passion for pursuing excellence. I will never compromise my integrity for advancement in any career, nor will I put anything above the best interest of my family.
I will always surround myself with great friends, new and old, who push me to be a better man... As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another.
I know that I am always a work in progress, and I believe that we can always find room for improvement. I'm just a man; I have my flaws, and I will stumble from time to time.
I must find what it takes to truly love everybody that I cross paths with, and never judge too quickly. It is not my place to judge another. Loving everybody means being a giver, and I want to think of other people before myself- My time and money are worth every opportunity to influence a person's life.
I carry myself with class, confidence, subtle strength, and a visible humility.
I promise to live my life like its shot from a gun, with no regrets, no holding back, and to be wild at heart. I will never quit on anything, and I will never stop laughing, loving, and living life to the fullest.

Thanks for reading!
